I'm Baaaack!

Happy New Year Y'all

View of the lake (and golf course) from the kitchen table

A lot has happened since my last post on May 17 and my life has taken a turn.  My legs started getting weaker at the end of last year and this year I had a number of falls -- really more like collapses -- one in the tight confines of a narrow toilet stall in the ladies room at a posh country club in Orlando!  Combined with the two surgical procedures on my spinal column, my brain no longer communicates with my feet.  In the words of my neurologist, I'm paraplegic.

Thanks to my sweet husband, I'm able to get around with a motorized wheelchair.

Needless to say, machine sewing with a foot control is not possible.  Even though my workhorse Baby Lock has a knee control, I can't control my knee, either.   But my Janome has a push-button control so we have set it up on my SewEzi table and, by golly, my wheels fit under the table!  My first project on the new setup will be a doll quilt for the great-GD's birthday.

Stay tuned!

  1. I am so happy you are back and that you have figured out a way to keep creating. I was happy when the push button controlled machines came out because there are so many people who have trouble with their feet.

  5. So sorry 2025 had that outcome. But so glad that you've found a way to keep sewing. Hoping that 2026 sees lots of good things for you.

  6. I'm sorry this happened but I like your attitude, I'm sure you have had to make a lot of changes in your life. so glad you have figured out how to continue your love of sewing thought - I gave my niece my Janome push button sewing machine some years back - she had a car accident and is a paraplegic and wanted to sew. I'm glad you are finding a way to cope.

  7. It’s so great seeing your post! Where there’s a will, there’s a way to figure out how to do what is passionate to us. Happy creating!

  8. Hello, Libby! It's so great to see you! Your motorized chair looks perfect for you. I'm glad you figured out a way to sew, too. I think my Pfaff has a button like that, but I've never tried it - now you've got me curious!

  9. Welcome back, Libby! I’ve been thinking and wondering about you a lot lately. You have been missed. I’m so happy you can still sew and create! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I had to use that button to sew for awhile, too. It’s doable. Thank goodness for greater minds who’ve come before us! O
