Happy to say that I am sewing again! I'm trying to sew at least 30 minutes a day in 15-minute increments. Mostly stuff that can evolve into a table mat or placemat.
I'm using my Janome 790 Jem with push-button control on the slowest speed -- about one stitch per second -- but at least it's getting the job done!
This quilt was on my design wall on July 1, 2025, the day my legs gave way twice and I went to the hospital for the first time. The pattern is Sunny Day by Moda. I used the Cheddar Blues fat quarter collection from Connecting Threads.
The background is a creamy white with tiny blue and orange dotty motifs. I had started the pieced borders from the leftover prints but did not get them on until recently. There will be a final wide border of the background fabric when it's done. A nice throw size.
Hooray for sewing again! It sounds like you've figured out what works best for you. I love that cheddar and blue combination - this is a really pretty quilt, Libby!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Diann. It really feels good to see the machine stitching again.
DeleteI’m so happy to hear you’re “back in the (sewing) saddle” again! That’s a lovely flimsy, LIbby! Aren’t modern machines with push-buttons wonderful?
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt! Hope you’re recovered.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see another post from you. The push button machines are nice.
ReplyDeleteSounds as though you're adapting to new ways to do what you love to do! The quilt is sunshiny for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful you are sewing again! I have never tried the push button sewing on my machine, glad it is working for you.
ReplyDeletemy machine has a push button too and a couple years ago I gave one of my older machine that has a push button to my niece who is in a wheel chair. She loved it. I have used the push button now and then and although it takes a little getting use to it does work - you can do it!
