RSC17 Strikes Again
The Rainbow Scrap Challenge for 2017, hosted by Angela at So Scrappy, has rolled into its second month and the color is something between blue and green.
I have a lot of fabric on my shelf that falls into that category -- probably because it's neither blue nor green so what does one do with it? Lately I've been using it as an accent with grey and red. So I thought I'd have lots of scraps. NOT!
I've managed to eek out one Scrap Jar Star. One.
I have a few more of those same pieces cut for maybe one more, but I don't want them to look like twins. Maybe during the month I can generate a few more scraps for some variety.
Did you see that Bonnie Hunter has updated her instructions for Chunky Churn Dash? What a great block for using up scraps! I'm betting some will appear on this site soon.
Hop over to soscrappy to see what other quilters are doing with neither blue nor green.
Pretty! Hard to stop at one block, though.
ReplyDeleteThe Block Swappers got started in 2006 with a CCD swap.
love this color... your post title makes me laugh, that's what I thought reading the color description at so scrappy... anything sort of ocean like.
ReplyDeleteNew scrap patterns are super fun. Glad you found a few aqua scraps. You could always pull out light blue or light green to round things out.
ReplyDeleteScrap jar star blocks are so much fun. Love the variety of fabrics in your aqua one.
ReplyDeleteHad not seen this block before. I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of scrap jar stars, I have a block started, LOL So many things to make so little time!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty one, Libby! I didn't have much in the way of aqua last year, either, and had to go buy a few fat quarters so I could make my stars that month. This yesr, I think I can make some blocks out of scraps generated last year!
ReplyDeleteUsing up scraps in one block is better than not using those scraps at all!
ReplyDeleteFor one who didn't have much in the way of SEA GREEN scraps, your Scrap Jar Star turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous star. I have a collection of single blocks I save till I can make a sampler quilt.
ReplyDeleteGreat block!
ReplyDeleteScrap jar star is such a pretty scrap user, even if you have to cut into some more stash. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteOh you did good!! I like that block too!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the colors. I don't have much of those shades either. I had to scramble to find enough for my blocks this month.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I had some trouble with teal too. Turns out I've done more planning than making with teal. But stash is just future scraps, right? ;)
