Hold the Paparazzi!
OK, so I exaggerate ... a bit ... but it was so heartwarming to meet a blog reader in an unexpected way.
Friday was a beautiful day for a drive to Maryville in East Tennessee to attend a meeting of the Tennessee Regional Quilt Study Group held in conjunction with the Smoky Mountain Quilt Show. At the morning antique quilt bed turning the speaker greeted me by name as she walked down the aisle. From behind me a little voice said, "Are you Libby, the blogger?"
Why, yes, I am!
That is how I met Kathie W, who likes to follow blogs of Tennessee quilters. We had a nice chat before the program began and it was a thrill to learn she was a prize winner!

The show is one of the longest-running annual shows in the area -- 35 years! Even though it's an area show, they had entries from 13 other states as well as Norway and the Netherlands. Great variety with several special exhibits. I will definitely go again next year.
Henry Glass wide back |
While I didn't purchase anything from the vendors, I did make my way 4 miles down the pike to Pappy's where I bought 3 yards of a Henry Glass wide back ...

... and 1 yard of a dark red I thought would work as an inner border on my Classic 4-Patch. However, I have decided not to use an inner border and just let the border print do the talking.

Sounds like it was a fun show. You came home with some fun stuff too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt that won top honors. Sounds like a good quilt show for sure. You got some great looking fabrics for your stash and I agree that I like your 4 patch the way you've shown it. That border print does the trick nicely.
ReplyDeleteLibby: It was great to meet and talk with you at the show. Thanks for showing a copy of my quilt. Hope to see at future quilt events especially A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge. Kathie (kweather78@aol.com)
ReplyDeleteI think with trips like this you don't need to be kidnapped!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a nice time, and got to meet someone that reads your blog! That is always a great treat for me too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy and fun story - you must have been delighted Libby! Congratulations to Kathie too!
