A Quilter's Best Friend

... the Slow Cooker!

I love that the slow cooker allows me to spend uninterrupted time in the sewing room.  The smells from above are heavenly, and I come up at dinner time to a complete meal!

Have you tried these new Campbell's Slow Cooker Sauces?

I have a bazillion pot roast recipes, and they're all really good.  Sure, I could save a few bucks if I started from scratch, but nothing beats the convenience and taste of the Tavern Style Pot Roast.  I usually put some aromatic vegetables under the meat, then throw in some carrots and potatoes about 3 hours before serving time.  Oh, my!

I'm looking forward to trying the Apple Bourbon Pulled Pork soon.

This is not a paid commercial for Campbell's; just sharing a recent discovery with you.

Yesterday, instead of enjoying the pot roast smells from the sewing room, I spent the day in the kitchen monitoring the laundry and finally updating my recipe notebook -- loose pages cut from the newspaper and magazines were spilling out every time I picked up the book.

While I had spent quite a bit of time sewing earlier in the week, nothing reached the stage where I could count it out.  So my weekly stash report remains the same -- nothing in, nothing out.

This week should be more productive.

Bein' as it's Monday, I'll bop on over to Patchwork Times to see what other folks are working on.  Seeya there!

  1. I remember the first slow-cooker, a birthday gift from my mother. Flame-red exterior, *non-removable* liner. When we got married Stevens had a newer model, tan exterior and a removable liner. Since then we have updated.

Good for you to keep your clippings under control!

I have a Cathy cartoon from years ago, affixed to the side of the fridge with a magnet.
Mom: Here are the Thanksgiving recipes I cut out last week that I can't wait to try.
(small pile).....Here are the recipes I cut out last month that I can't wait to try! (bigger pile)....Here are the recipes I cut out last year and the year before that that I can't wait to try! (huge pile)
Cathy: You have 400 recipes to try in 48 hours, Mom?
Mom: Some go online. I go in-drawer.
Dad, next to a mountain of paper: Here are the recipes she cut out last decade that she can't wait to try....

  2. Will you come get my recipes in order? I have the notebook and the plastic sleeves... I just need to sit down and do it. I can smell the pot roast as I read your post. :)

  3. Slow cookers are great, but my new go-to appliance is an electric pressure cooker. I got one about 9 months ago and use it all the time. Anything to free up more quilting time is a good deal.

  4. That sounds so good! We bought an electric pressure cooker that also browns and is a slow cooker - it gets used a lot!

  5. I love my crock pot too! I will have to check these items out!

  6. Yes! I've tried I think just about all of the Campbell's pouches and I love them! I just this week did the Chicken Pot Pie (for the oven) but did it in the crock pot....delish!!!
