Design Wall Monday

Remember this one?

I started Trellis Garden last year when smokey purple was the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month. I wrote about it HERE.

Trellis Garden
I was eaking this one out of smallish pieces of yardage and had to get creative with the little brown squares.  Plus I needed to calculate if I had enough of the darker purple and darker gold to extend those blocks into the border. Plus I had nothing lined up for the border fabric.  So the project has languished in the box for several months.

Now that purple is the RSC color this month, I figure it is time to finish this top.  It doesn't show well in this photo, but I am using a third brown -- one I call "brack" because it's so brown it's almost black -- to fill the space.  If I have enough I'll add a another row of the brack all around.

Hop over to Patchwork Times to see what other quilters are working on this week.

  2. Ah! I really love 'brack'! Good thing, too, since 'blown' already means something else... 8)

  3. I admired this quilt when you were working on it last year, so it is great that soon it will be a completed top. It looks like an easy to sew pattern, but you really need to keep track of what goes where.

  6. Brack is a great choice! This quilt is so striking. I think it's because of the unusual colors. Just beautiful.

  8. SEW glad that you are making do with the materials on-hand!! Here's hoping you have enough "brack" for an outer border... if not, perhaps you will have enough for the binding!!

  9. Wow, so beautiful. I've bought some of that color brown before but didn't know its proper name, lol

  10. Those are neat blocks! Did you do a lot of fussy cutting for the centers? I find a lot of colors don't photograph well for me, especially purple, so I'm not surprised about the brack!
