Passionate for Purple

RSC17 Update

Apparently I AM passionate for purple because I've hardly made a dent in my purple scraps!

What a mess!
But I've made a very good start with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge January color of purple.  Let's see how I did.

Scrap Jar Star
Inspired by other RSC participants, I decided to make scrap jar stars each month.  I managed to get three made in January.

At that rate, three 12" blocks x 10 months will make a very nice throw. I also chose another quilt in 101 Fabulous Rotary-Cut Quilts by Judy Hopkins and Nancy Martin that I think will help make a dent in my scraps.  Here's the first block.

Half-square Nines
I still have to put the borders on Zagnuts.

I also finished Trellis Garden, part of my One Monthly Goals.

I'm joining others reporting in with Angela at So Scrappy.

  1. You beat me by one Scrap Jar Star!! (And you managed a whole lot more PURPLE sewing.) Knocking out scraps AND your UFOs... way to go!!

  6. Great stuff! I made a slight dent in my purple scrap stash...one half of a shoebox sized tote. I'll keep the rest for embellishments here and there and if need be, use them in next year's RSC.

  10. Wow, you really had a purple-icious month! Congrats on all you got done. I love your concept for the scrap jar stars, and with 30 blocks with repeated colors you really will end up with a nice throw.

  12. Well you really had a good time with purple! I love your blocks - those triangle nines are a great idea, and I love Scrap Jar Stars. (I'm planning to do that one for RSC, too, but I haven't gotten my January block put together yet...)
And two quilts, too? Go you!

  13. Somehow I missed your post last week! So sorry I didn't get to it sooner. I think your Scrap Jar Stars are coming out great, but I also like the HST nine patch! That is a fun idea! Will that quilt have different kinds of blocks?
