I'm Back!

Home Sweet Studio

After a weekend on the road, I'm back in the studio today, pondering my options on what I thought was a finished flimsy.
Tropical Trellis
While it's large enough in its current state, I would prefer to have a border to stabilize the many pieces on the edges. So on our recent vacation/FLW pilgrimage I picked up a couple of options.

First is this teal diagonal stripe.

The teal picks up the darker parts of the print in the star center and brings it out to the edge.

Second is this hazy purple that brings out the purple figure in the white background.

Or a combination of both -- narrow teal stripe inner and 4" purple outer ...

I tested a dark purple and felt it was too heavy. Suggestions?

Take a look at Patchwork Times to see what other quilters are pondering this week.

  3. I love the combo, my second choice would be just the purple.

    It's a beautiful quilt top.

  11. I agree with the consensus: the combo, best I can tell from the pictures. Will I see this at the retreat? Sharon B in Franklin?

  12. I like the narrow teal, wide purple. But I wouldn't be surprised if you do something completely different!

  13. I too love the teal and purple combinations. I love purple and this would be MY taste, but if the quilt were for someone else, you might consider what their color preferences might be. Maybe small purple and larger teal. You can't go wrong with these colors.

  14. I like the combination of the two. Maybe trying a narrower width with the dark purple would work. I had some of that dark purple with the medium moon design. I'm always excited to find a scrap I can use again. Yours is a lovely project. Sandi
