Retreat Day 2 was kind of a do-nothing day, I don't know why. But every once in a while it's nice to slow down and contemplate my navel. Anyway, I began the day by making and applying the binding to Winter Trees. Easy peasy.

Then I set about finishing Celtic Solstice. I mean, it's only been 5 years since that BH mystery ... Well, I won't bore you with details but I never could get the border Tri-Recs units to fit. I counted, I measured. It looked like I had fixed the problem by making two more non-matching Tri-Recs blocks.
So I proceeded to add the remaining borders only to find ...

No extra fabric in the box. Oh, well, maybe next retreat I will finish it. But I am happy with how it is turning out.

The remainder of the day was devoted to finishing my Loosey Goosey columns from the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2018.

I failed to bring extra fabrics to fill in the pointy ends so that has gone back in the box, as well.
Celtic Solstice is coming along nicely - just at its own pace! Some quilts just won't be hurried.
ReplyDeleteOooh, Winter Trees is really pretty! Don't you hate it when you get to retreat and realize you don't have something you need to finish something you desperately wanted to finish?!?! I think that's why so many quilters bring SO MUCH stuff to retreat!! :)
ReplyDeleteI also always squabble a bit with Tri-Recs :)
ReplyDeleteI have issues with the Tri-Recs ruler, too. Celtic Solstice is nearing a finish and looks great! Days to contemplate your navel are good, too!
ReplyDeleteOohhh, sorry for your frustrations with missing parts...
ReplyDeleteI love your Loosey Goosey columns. This is the first time I've seen them all together and I love how the colors all play nicely even though they're scrappy. I didn't realize as you were working on each one that the backgrounds are actually tints of the featured colors, too. Looks great!
Celtic Solstice: having it that close to completion would drive me crazy. I'd git'er dun by inserting a plain strip if that was all I had. (That could lead to an interesting name.) Your RSC bands looks wonderful all in a row.
