More on the Purple Project Saga
This is what happens when you start thinking about the next step in the process and how close to finishing you are ...
First I stitched the sashing to the block before I flipped the star point.
Oops, forgot something. |
And furthermore, I can't find any more of that fabric to cut at 2 inches! I do have a 1-1/2" strip so I may have to resort to piecing it; otherwise, it's take apart the other already-sewn three corners of that star and replace it with another fabric. Oh, wait, looking at this photo I think I can just reverse this piece !!! Hallelujah!
In the meantime I've decided to use a pale yellow solid for the side setting triangles, but all I have is a FQ so some shopping will be involved. I think a tiny green inner border -- maybe even a flange -- then I'll audition prints for the outer border to finish her up.
For something that started as a scrap activity it sure has morphed into something major.
I love how this has evolved - it feels like it has taken on a life of its own. I hope you manage to get that corner sorted without too many headaches - isn't it annoying when we create headaches for ourselves
ReplyDeleteI was going to tell you to just flip it over, but you got it yourself. (Ask me how I know it'll work...)
ReplyDeleteYou are going to end up with such a fabulous quilt, and all just to use up some scrappy 16patches. I love it!
Oh, good, you figured out you can just unsew the wrongly cut star point, turn it over, and resew it. Glad it's not a bigger problem. I like the green inner border/flange idea.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when I get those triangle pieces slanted the wrong way. Glad you found a way to fix it.
