French Braid |
(I apologize for the file cabinet in the corner of the picture. It's a full quilt and I had to use a friend's design wall to get it all in the picture.) Started in a class with Jane Hardy Miller in 2010. Finally finished. One UFO off my list -- whoo-hoo!
I'm hosting a small retreat at a state park next week. We usually hit at least one shop coming or going. BUT I am determined to keep my buying to only what is needed for a specific project this year. (Remind me of that when I hit Eleanor Burns' tent at Paducah!!!)
In this Week: ZERO!
In year to Date: ZERO!
Out this Week: 16 yards
Out Year to Date: 18.5 yards
Net Used for 2014: 18.5 yards
Linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times.
Absolutely stunning quilt!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathie. Fun making it. Don't know why I put off finishing it for so long. I guess it's because it takes a really long table to properly trim the braid so I had to wait for retreats and guild meetings.
DeleteWow!!! Great finish Libby!!!! That is one of my favorite patterns. I've made a small wall quilt, but I intend to make a large one of these one day :)
ReplyDeleteI love the concept. I even have a second one cut out but it hasn't made it to my UFO list yet ... hee hee. Her later books have so many good ideas for using braid. Gotta try them some time.
DeleteI bought a kit for this quilt in blues 4-5 years ago, I might have to get started on it this year. Your color way is amazing. I have never been to Ms Burns tent sale, I am going to have to look for it this year. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOMG, she has a color of the day with $.50 off the already low price. Granted, most of it is older prints, but sometimes you can find something you need to add to. Let me know if you go, maybe we can hook up.
DeleteLovely French Braid finish!
ReplyDeleteAbout the Eleanor Burns tent, that's the granddaddy of all exceptions to stash busting! It's an opportunity to score fabrics at seriously low prices, so it pays to stock up! At least, that's my excuse....
Thanks. And ditto!
