More Orange

Thanks, everyone, for your favorable comments on my first RSC16 orange exercise.

Brentwood Beauty made from 6" Buckeyes
Sad to say, you won't see more of that size because my orange scrap strips are all smaller sizes. However, I did find some spare time away from the BRP (Big Reorganization Project) early this week to make some 4" Buckeyes with my orange scraps.

Buckeyes - Parts and Pieces
Several folks commented on the orange/green combo so I am making some green ones, too!  If I'm lucky, Angela will pick lime green for May and I'll be ahead of the game.

They are so easy to make with my already-cut strips that I think I will go back to the earlier RSC16 colors and make more. So I'm holding off on how I will set these until I have more ready to go.

I'll link with Angela at sosrappy when she posts later today.

Keep Calm

Enjoy Spring

  1. Happy orange buckeyes ya got there! They do look sweet with the green, too.
I'm making the smaller size, too. I've always got 2.5" and 1.5" strips right at hand, so they're a real quickie to cut out and sew.

  2. Orange makes such vivid blocks, the green does a nice job of "calming" them down a bit. Beautifully done!

  4. Those are really colorful with the green, a good choice. But what is a buckeye? Is it the ones with orange and white in the second photo? Glad you are with rsc to give us a new point of view.

    1. I'm glad you asked, Paula, because technically the block -- two 4-patches and two HSTs -- is called Buckeye Beauty. (I thought the Beauty part only came in when they are combined like in the first photo.) The block is also known as Hourglass, Railroad Crossing and Jacob's Ladder, among others. Good catch!

  7. Great idea for RSC. Buckeye Beauties are soooo versatile. You could probably make many many different quilts just from that one block.

  9. I don't think I've made the Buckeye Beauty block since the days of the nickel square craze . . . time to revisit it, I think.

  11. I'm not a fan of orange, but I do like that first block with green. It isn't that I dislike it, not like pink, but I just don't lean toward it or have much.
