Rail Units
Welcome to Clue 2 of our Magical Mystery Block Quilt-Along.
Please note: The pieces combine to make two different blocks (that IS the mystery, after all):
Block A and Block B.
Pay close attention to pressing and placement of units in each of the block options!
All seams are 1/4"
For this clue you will be using the 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" rectangles.
Pair a light rectangle with a dark rectangle, right sides together.
Sew down one long edge with a 1/4" seam. Make 8 of these units.
Press four units toward the light fabric for A Blocks and labels these "A."
Press four units toward the dark fabric for B Blocks and label these "B."
"A" above, "B" below |
Note: These units should be 4-1/2" square.
If they are too small, you need to adjust your seam allowance slightly narrower. If they are too big, trim them to 4-1/2" with the seam centered at 2-1/4", but know you will still need to adjust your seam allowance before Clue #5.
Sew, get those machines humming and we'll share our progress on Monday. I couldn't figure out that linky stuff so I'm going to do like Leeanna at Not Afraid of Color and just list the participants. When you post your progress, I'll link to your post. Don't have a blog? Send me photos and I'll show them here.
Here's a list of the blogging participants I know so far. Let me know if I need to add anyone.
